Registration for our Spring session will open for beginners by Apr 19.  Advanced levels will open Saturday Apr 27.

Please note, when registering you will need to create an account in your name and then create a profile for your child in order to register them for classes. 

Learn to Skate Ages 3 - Adult

Ice skating is an exciting, invigorating and enjoyable activity. In our Learn to Skate program, you'll gain the skills that will enable you to enjoy a lifetime of fun and exercise. Step-by-step instruction in pleasant, fun, and supervised surroundings makes learning safe and easy. New skaters are always welcome. Classes are grouped by age and ability, and meet once weekly. Classes are available on Saturdays.

  • 30 minute professional instruction each week
  • Rental skates included in registration
  • Each registered skater will be allotted unlimited public skating access. Access is valid at all 5 Polar locations. Public Skating Passes do not carry over.  They are only available for the duration of the session.  Skate rental is included. Public passes cannot be used for anyone other than the skater enrolled in class.

Snowplow Sam 1 - Ages 3-5
Basic 1 - Ages 6-12
Adult/Teen - Ages 13+

ONLINE REGISTRATION
All registrations must be completed online before the beginning of class. Early registration is strongly recommended.

ATTENTION LEARN TO SKATE PARTICIPANTS:
Registration for Learn to Skate USA membership is now required for all skate schools. The LTSUSA calendar year runs from July 1 – June 30. With the start of July, ALL SKATERS must renew their LTSUSA membership. This membership fee will show up at check out and will need to be added to your cart when checking out.

SIBLING/FAMILY CREDIT

A $10 discount will be automatically applied at checkout to any second+ family member also registering for the same session.

MAKE UP POLICY

  • Makeup classes MUST be approved by the Skating Director.  Please Email Kristy to schedule.
  • A maximum of 2 makeup classes per session is permitted.
  • Only 1 makeup class can be rescheduled if notified 24 hours prior to the original date.
  • Makeup classes are not guaranteed.  If a class is already full, there is no guarantee of adding a makeup skater.
  • Makeup classes do not carry over from session to session.  They must be completed before the end of the session.
  • Because Garner only offers LTS once per week, makeups will be completed at our Cary location on a Sunday or Tuesday pending availability.

*We do not offer refunds for any Learn to Skate programming - Credits will be handled on a case by case situation and in the event that a credit is approved, credit will only be given in the amount of the remainder of the session from when the skating director was contacted.*

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BASIC 1 CLASS - Ages 6-12
Basic 1 is an introductory class for skaters ages 6-12.  NO skating experience is necessary.  Skaters will learn the all of the basics starting with how to fall down and stand up by themselves all the way through swizzles and backward skating.

SNOWPLOW SAM 1 - Ages 3-5
SPS 1 is an introductory class for skaters ages 3-5.  NO Skating experience is necessary.  Parents are not able to go on the ice with their children in this class.
ADULT/TEEN Class - Ages 13+
NO skating experience is necessary. Skaters will be able to take the Adult/Teen class and start from no experience through elements in the Basic 6 level. Once skaters have passed through Basic 6 they would need to switch to the FreeSkate levels. Basic skating, figure skating, and hockey skills will be taught pending the needs of the skater.
SNOWPLOW SAM 2 CLASS- Ages 3-5
Snowplow Sam 2 skaters must have PASSED Snowplow Sam 1 in order to participate. Skaters must be able to stand on their own and skate on their own to participate in this level.

SNOWPLOW SAM 3 CLASS - Ages 3-5
Snowplow Sam 3 skaters must have PASSED Snowplow Sam 1 and 2 in order to participate. Skaters must be able to stand on their own and skate on their own to participate in this level.
BASIC 2 CLASS
Basic 2 skaters must have PASSED Basic 1 OR Snowplow Sam 3(and have coach approval to participate in Basic 2) in order to participate. Skaters must be able to stand on their own and skate on their own to participate in this level.

BASIC 3 CLASS
Basic 3 skaters must have PASSED Basic 2 in order to participate. Skaters who have already passed Basic 3 are not eligible for this class.
BASIC 4 CLASS
Basic 4 skaters must have PASSED Basic 3 in order to participate. Skaters who have already passed Basic 4 are not eligible for this class.

BASIC 5 CLASS
Basic 5 skaters must have PASSED Basic 4 in order to participate.  Skaters who have already passed Basic 5 are not eligible for this class.
BASIC 6 CLASS
Basic 6 skaters must have PASSED Basic 5 in order to participate. Skaters who have already passed Basic 6 are not eligible for this class.

ASPIRE
This class is for skaters in Pre-FreeSkate - FreeSkate 6 and beyond.  This is an hour long class, please note there is a price difference for Aspire.  For more information, please visit:
